Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!
Praise God by Whom all pumpkins grow! What a magnificent day He gave us, and to Him we give all the praise.
We started October 14th with 2,204 pumpkins, just in the pumpkin patch. That doesn’t include the rotten ones, or the ones used to decorate! Our goal was 2,000, and God granted us in abundance of that goal. Isn’t our great God awesome?! As a result, we were able to plant seeds into approximately 1000 homes this year. Many times, I heard that many guests were returning, some for the fourth time! That was very encouraging, since this is the fourth season of planting. My kids were excited because their bus driver came! Praise God!
New this year—a wonderful photo opportunity. Much thanks goes to the Brent and Carolyn Miller family for their part in this picture perfect opportunity. Many families participated. Also, much thanks to Christi Bartz for her keen decorating eye. With help from her husband, Dave, she really made our patch look autumnal. We even had a guest scarecrow (Craig Shelbrock). Many of the kids were taken with him. Craig and Christi were very instrumental in the planning of this event this year, and I am very grateful to both of them (and their families).
Please take some time to thank Greg and Kathy Tindol. Not only were they a great help as we planned and set-up, but they also provided an enjoyable hay-ride around the property. This year I saw lines, some times as long as 20 or more people, waiting for the hay rides. That brought a huge smile to my face. I’d also like to thank the Tuck family and their helpers, Sue Soltis and Nicci Walchshauser, for again providing face painting. This has been a favorite among the kids. Neil and Marcia Jolly provided a fire-cooked breakfast for those of us willing to rise and shine to set-up. What a blessing that was! Much thanks to Carl Fedele for his organized parking. He really did an excellent job with the many cars that kept arriving. There seemed to be no end to the traffic, but that was encouraging! We’re also grateful to the Plainfield Police Community Service Officers who helped us direct traffic on Rt. 59.
I know there are many others who contributed to make this day a success—those who donated cookies and/or cider, those who helped set-up and tear-down, those who helped park cars, those who helped greet and pass out pumpkins, and those who prayed. We also had two teams who helped pick the pumpkins. Without all of you, this event would be challenging for us to do. Thank you all for your effort.
Enjoy the pictures!
